Steve Summers

Brand Manager for 100fm

I got the showbiz bug at Woodstock High School while in their theatre program. I found the radio bug while I was a freshman at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. They say “If you love what you do, you never work a day in your life”. I am proof that it’s true. From the minute I walked into WSUW FM 91.7, the college station in Whitewater, I found that connection.

How did I land in Rockford? A buddy of mine fixed me up on a blind date. Yes, a blind date.

I met my wife Yvonne on that blind date to see REO Speedway at the BMO Harris Bank Center, known at that time as the Metro Centre. It was like a connection I never felt. They say, “You know when it’s right, it’s right”. Yup.

Working in Rockford Radio gives you the chance to help so many. I am a Board Member for GiGi’s Playhouse-Rockford serving many with Down Syndrome. I assist whenever I can with The Rockford Salvation Army, March of Dimes, The Rock River Valley Food Pantry, and many more.

Aaron Wilson & Daisy

Aaron Wilson

100fm Weekend Host

Aaron is known for his unique upbeat approach while broadcasting.

Aaron started as a news station broadcaster while enrolled in his senior year at Rockford College. He graduated with a degree in Education and has a current teacher’s certificate for the State of Illinois. Aaron is also a graduate of Jefferson High School and has his Associate of Arts degree from Rock Valley College. He had plans of becoming an Earth Science teacher and someday a Principal.

Aaron has coined himself as the guy that will pretty much try anything.

Things to know about Aaron:

  • He has fished the Arctic Circle, where he caught a 52 pound Lake Trout.
  • His middle name is Rider, and until High School, was the name everyone used.
  • His first two jobs were loading clay pigeons at Byron Gun Club, and serving as a caddy at Rockford Country Club.
  • He went to college to be a teacher.
  • He had dinner with William Shatner (and his agent).

Kevin McCarthy

100fm Weekend Host

Things everyone needs to know about Kevin are:

He has never been to Great America. "I almost made it there on my 8th Grade Graduation Day but it rained. So we saw Star Wars as it just debuted."
Many don't know that he's half Italian. He was born and grew up for the most part, in one of Chicago's Italian neighborhoods. Both of his Grandparents (Mom's side) came through Ellis Island. He even spoke and understood the language. He considers himself more Italian then Irish. Saints preserve us.
His first real job was working at the very first (Store #1) True-Value Hardware Store on Chicago's Northwest Side (proper) during the chain's hey days. Sadly it's long gone.
Kevin tends to name his cars. He would tell you he couldn't have been more excited, than when he gained more freedom after purchasing a 1977 Chevy Monte Carlo. It was fire engine red, white Landau roof powered by a 350 engine. In his words "It was the bomb. One sweet ride my friends. From the good times through the sad times it was my life as I knew it when I purchased it used in 1982. Oh yes, her name was Betsy".
For a number of years, he was a WWII re-enactor. He belonged to a few different units wearing mostly original uniforms. He also attended a number of parades, events, and of course WWII Days at Midway Village.
